We are in a ‘new world’ conference hears

Around 100 business people from across the region recently attended an event that showcased commercial and business opportunities in North Somerset.
Held at Knightstone Housing’s new Headquarters at Weston Gateway Business Park (WGBP), delegates listened to presentations from key figures from the region.
The event was organised by Business Leader Magazine, in conjuction with Dowlas UK Ltd – who are the enabling developers for Weston Gateway Business Park.
At the event, Enterprise House – a new bespoke office complex designed
for WGBP with construction starting later this year – was officially launched and business leaders gave their thoughts on the future of the region.

Dr Paul Phillps OBE said: “North Somerset has made great strides. Ten years ago we were seeing buses of people heading up to Bristol for their education – it’s now the opposite way around.
“We are in a new world and we are equipping our students with the required skills.”

Richard Roller said: “For us, an advanced manufacturing business employing over 40 people, North Somerset offers access to a great skills base and excellent transport links.”
Tony Wilson said: “Regionally and even nationally the new North Somerset Technical College is offering a unique model and we will ensure the studetns of today are ready for the business challenges of tomorrow. It’s fantastic for North Somerset.”

Tony Wilson, Principal of the new North Somerset Enterprise and Techical College; Matthew Cross, Head of Invest Bristol and Bath; David Turner, Director at North Somerset Council; Nick Horne, CEO of Knightstone Housing and Angela Hicks, CEO of the North Somerset Enterprise Agency were also presenting.
