Bristol NW Foodbank has received more than 2000 meals and a cheque for £790 from accountants and business advisers BDO LLP in Bristol, after the firm undertook a series of fundraising events.

As well as collecting money from charity dress down days, the firm also organised two separate food collections at its offices.

Bristol NW Foodbank is run by a team of volunteers and provides emergency food and support for local people in crisis.

It is part of the Trussel Trust Foodbank and is BDO’s chosen charity for 2015.

Simon Girling, a partner at BDO LLP in Bristol comments: “A group of us visited the foodbank in Lawrence Weston to meet with the volunteers and speak with those using the service ahead of our food collections.

“These are people who love and care for their families and are doing all they can to support them through a tough time, whether that be as a result of ill-health, redundancy or a family break-up.

“We saw first-hand how important the foodbank is to those in need. It was a pleasure to help out in any way we could, and we hope to make an even bigger contribution in the build-up to Christmas.”
