The development of an 88-bed dementia care home in Bridgwater has taken a positive step.

The development will help create 140 jobs for the local area.

Notaro Homes, which is developing the purpose built facility at Bower Lane, has secured £6.5 million from HSBC Corporate Banking to see the construction phase through to the end, which is expected in August 2016.

Nunzio Notaro, managing director at Notaro Homes, comments:  Mark and his team have taken the time to get under the skin of our business and were able to offer us the best rates at a time when many other banks wouldn’t lend at all.”

Mark Bennett, Head of Corporate Banking at HSBC in Bristol, comments: “At HSBC, we’re committed to helping UK businesses realise their ambitions.

“Notaro Homes has big growth plans over the next five years, with a number of new homes intended across the South West, and we wanted to help that become a reality.”

The new facility will include a 66-bed dementia nursing home and 22 assisted living units, offering a combination of accommodation, support services, residential day care, on-site therapy spaces and specialist healthcare. Notaro will fund the £1 million fit-out of the home itself.

The home is expected to welcome residents from October 2016, adding to the 10 care homes owned and managed by Notaro Homes across the South West.
