Two new managing directors have been appointed at The HR Dept’s businesses in Bristol, as the national company and its city-wide operation look to grow and expand.

Gemma Tumelty has become managing director of The HR Dept Ltd nationwide and abroad. She will be in charge of a team of four and assumes overall responsibility for supporting the network of Licensees and growing the business.

Anna Pepler becomes managing director of the local company in the city region. Anna will manage a team of 14 staff at its base in the Henfield Business Park on Westerleigh Road.

She takes over from Sue Tumelty, the previous managing director, who set up The HR Dept in 2002 and steps back from the day-to-day running of both businesses. Sue will continue to sit as chair.

Anna commented: “Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and the surrounding areas are a fertile ground for small businesses and they all need HR support in some form or another, so I’m excited to see what we can achieve here over the next few years. It’s a challenge, but one which I’m relishing.”

Gemma commented: “The HR Dept’s services have never been more relevant, with small businesses in the UK and Ireland facing complex employment legislation and needing maximum performance from their staff in order to drive their businesses forward after a tough recession.”
