The prestigious Business Leader Awards ceremony has named Bristol’s hospitals as its chosen charity cause for 2020.

The high-profile event – the South West’s leading business awards – will bring together the most influential leaders in business, education and government to recognise and celebrate the region’s business success, supported by the area’s most important professionals and advisors.

Every year, the awards support a nominated charity – and this year’s ceremony will benefit Above & Beyond, the official charity raising money for all nine sites within the UH Bristol Trust, including the BRI, Bristol Heart Institute and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Andrew Scott, Founder and CEO of Business Leader, said: “We’ve chosen Above & Beyond to benefit from the South West awards as almost everyone in the area has a connection to Bristol’s hospitals.

“It’s great to be able to give something back and benefit the hundreds of thousands of patients who visit the hospitals each year.”

The money raised for Above & Beyond will go towards funding modern and welcoming environments, world-class equipment, innovative research and staff training and development at the hospitals.

Elaine Gibson, philanthropy and partnerships manager for Above & Beyond, said: “It’s fantastic to have been chosen as the charity for the 2020 Business Leader Awards, the most prestigious and celebrated business event of the year in Bristol and the South West.

“We’re really looking forward to being involved and meeting all the incredible award winners on the night.”

The 2019 awards, hosted by former government minister Michael Portillo, crowned winners in a wide range of sectors, including tech, property, law, finance, logistics, retail and training.

Previous awards hosts have included Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Jeremy Vine, Russell Kane and business icon Michelle Mone.

Nominations for the 2020 awards will open on February 21, ahead of a lavish ceremony at Ashton Gate on September 24. Tickets are now on sale.
