Air Fryers most in-demand product on Amazon ahead of Black Friday, research reveals
As Black Friday approaches, online businesses around the world are preparing to participate in the annual event.
For consumers, the best way to prepare for Black Friday is to plan early, especially as shoppers start looking for deals as early as October.
Online Gaming authority, AskGamblers, have analysed consumer behaviour when it comes to online shopping to help anticipate what products may be in demand this Black Friday.
Gathering data from Amazon’s ‘Most Wished For’, which explores data from consumers Wishlist’s and Registries, and by looking at global search volumes for products, here are the products that are expected to have the best deals and that you should look out for in each category.
Home and Kitchen
In the Home and Kitchen department, the top three most popular appliances were Air Fryers. The Ninja Dual Zone, Tower Family-size Air Fryer, and COSORI Air Fryer respectively take the top three places.
Air Fryers have become an extremely popular alternative to deep frying as it is healthier and can cook food quickly, compared to conventional fryers – ultimately being cheaper to run. Air Fryers received a global search volume of 3.1m, showcasing its popularity.
Following the fryers, the fourth most popular product amongst consumers is the Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket. Electric Blankets have had one of the biggest increases in global search volume with 190K searches, and this is anticipated to increase especially as we approach winter months.
Electronics and Photo
The capability of turning your home into a ‘smart home’ has become more possible due to affordable tech and gadgets consumers can purchase. Surprisingly, Amazon takes the top four spots in the Electronics and Photo department with all the products being manufactured by them.
The number one product added to Wishlist’s is a video doorbell. There is a surplus of video doorbells to purchase with global search volumes reaching 57K for the term, however, the Ring Video Doorbell is the product that consumers are wishing for the most.
Second is the Echo Dot (4th Gen) speaker. Smart Speakers have also become very popular receiving a global search volume of 369K, however, it is noticeable that Amazon’s smart speaker competitors such as Apple’s Homepod and the Google Nest are not available for purchase on Amazon.
Following the Echo Dot is Amazon’s Fire Stick streaming device with the 4K and HD variants respectively taking third and fourth place. Unlike the smart speaker, other variants are sold on Amazon, including Google’s latest version of the Chromecast and the Roku Streaming Media player. The term ‘Streaming Device’ received a global search volume of 205K.
PC and Video Games
The most popular product in the PC and Video Game department is the PlayStation 5 console, which received 6.5m in global search volume. One thing that is noticeable is that due to the PlayStation’s popularity and high demand, this item can only be purchased via invitation. Consumers will have to request and invitation to purchase the console, however, due to limited quantities, Amazon cannot guarantee all request to be granted.
Noticeably, taking second and third place are two pre-orders for video games. God of War Ragnarök (PS5) and Pokémon Violet (Nintendo Switch) are both set to release in November 2022, prior to Black Friday, and due to the cult following of both franchises, they are expected to be extremely popular around Black Friday.
Despite having a global search volume of 6.3m, the fourth most popular product is the Xbox Series X. Unlike the PlayStation 5, the console is available for purchase directly from Amazon without having to request an invitation.
Large Appliance deals are immensely popular amongst consumers during Black Friday. Amazon offers products from well-known brands such as Samsung, LG, Hisense, and Hot Point. Surprisingly, the most popular ‘large appliances’ among consumers are Mini Fridges’ and Tabletop/Portable Dishwashers.
The AstroAI Mini Fridge is the most popular, followed by the SubCold Classic4 Mini Fridge. The term ‘Mini Fridge’ received a global search volume of 776K, showcasing its popularity amongst consumers.
The third and fourth most popular ‘large appliances’ with consumers are the SingleHomie Tabletop Dishwasher and the COMFEE’ Mini Plus Dishwasher. Noticeably, consumers refer to tabletop/portable dishwashers differently. The most common term is ‘Portable Dishwasher’ which received 85K in global search volume on Google, this is followed by ‘Countertop Dishwasher’ which received 57K in global search volume.
AskGamblers commented on the data saying: “Spending habits have already been affected due to the cost-of-living crisis and insights like this can help consumers, as well as businesses, anticipate what items will be the most popular around Black Friday so that they can ensure they get the best deals”.
