Amelia Knight, the global manufacturer of high-quality private label and branded cosmetics, has announced the acquisition of Longshawe Packaging.

Longshawe Packaging, based in Leek, Staffordshire, is a quality producer of cosmetic and personal care products.

The acquisition will enable Amelia Knight to significantly increase its own capabilities to manufacture cosmetics, most notably oils, haircare, male grooming and skincare products, from within the UK whilst also complementing its existing facilities in Hangzhou, China.

Following completion of the deal, Amelia Knight plans to double the headcount at the Longshawe plant and invest in new state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment. The new workforce in Leek joins 170 UK colleagues in the Knutsford and Stoke sites, and over 500 staff worldwide.

Amelia Knight, a family run business, previously acquired Pascalle Cosmetics in February 2019. Today’s announcement builds on Amelia Knight’s ‘Made in Great Britain’ vision. It reinforces its commitment to invest in UK manufacturing and innovation within the cosmetics sector, as the drive to grow UK exports gathers pace. It will also allow the business to respond even more rapidly to breaking global beauty trends.

David Salmon, Founder and Chairman of Amelia Knight, said: “We are immensely proud of the acquisition of Longshawe Packaging, as it signifies considerable milestones for both Amelia Knight and the UK manufacturing industry.

“Firstly, it enables Amelia Knight to react to an ever-changing industry and create more of its own products right here in the UK.

“Secondly, as we leave the European Union, it brings the perfect opportunity to fly the flag for UK manufacturing. While some uncertainty abounds over what comes next, we are confident about what the future holds for the UK and UK manufacturing. That is why we’re investing in home-grown talent to evolve the sector and help it continue to flourish. We really are only just getting started. We shall continue to develop our beautiful products for the markets at home and around the world.”

Mark Salmon, Director of UK Manufacturing at Amelia Knight, added: “We are delighted to announce another exciting acquisition for Amelia Knight as we expand our UK manufacturing operation and diversify our product offer.  We are investing in UK talent and creating jobs as we deliver our homegrown vision on a global stage.  As a vertically integrated company, we are perfectly placed to work with cosmetics brands of any size.”
