The UK’s largest racecourse operator has appointed a new Managing Director for its racing division.
Mark Spincer will take on overall responsibility for the 16 racecourses and four greyhound stadia within the Arena Racing Company portfolio.
Spincer, who will undertake the role with immediate effect, has been with ARC – previously known as both Arena Leisure and Northern Racing – for more than 12 years, and has held roles including Executive Director of both Newcastle and Doncaster Racecourses.
More recently, he has been ARC Group Operations Director since 2015.
ARC Chief Executive Martin Cruddace said: “We are very pleased to confirm the appointment of Mark Spincer as Managing Director of ARC’s Racing Division, given his considerable experience and expertise.
“He has done an excellent job as Group Operations Director, with day-to-day management of our various sites, but we believe that this new role will be a significant benefit in building the business over the coming years.”
Spincer said: “We have tremendous teams working across our sites, and as such, I am very much looking forward to taking on this new role.
“Delivering fantastic events and excellent customer experiences have been at the heart of my career at ARC and will very much continue to be the focus moving forward.”
ARC racecourses – which include Bath, Chepstow, Doncaster, Hereford and Lingfield Park – host 572 fixtures per year, drawing an attendance of 1.2 million people.
The London-based company employs 750 permanent staff, and up to 5,500 casual staff for racing and event days.
