Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium has submitted its plans for two new sites to the city council for screening opinion requests.

Ashton Gate Stadium Ltd is aiming to provide hundreds of new homes, as well as a new home for the basketball team, the Bristol Flyers. The Flyers 4000-capacity arena will also be an entertainment venue for the city.

As well as the two marque developments with 250 new homes, there will also be two new hotels with more than 300 rooms as well as mixed office space, bars, restaurants, a gym and a multi-storey car park.

In a report from Ashton Gate, it read: “There has long been the ambition to bring the Flyers home to Ashton Gate. As part of the Bristol Sport Group, it has always been the aspiration to have the team play out of BS3.

“We also believe it would enhance the city’s sporting prowess and create a new ‘City Quarter’ centred around sport, leisure and events. The aspiration is to build on the success of Ashton Gate Stadium by transforming the area into Bristol’s sporting quarter.”

  1. Why only 4,000 arena. Most decent venues 10,000.This would attract top quality music and entertainment. Could close top tier for atmosphere and smaller crowds. Let’s be the best in the West
