ASOS posts a ‘strong performance’ in its festive period sales thanks to “Try Before You Buy” option

Online fashion retailer Asos has posted “strong sales” over the festive period for both its UK and international markets.

Asos has said that its sales in the UK climbed 23%, aided by the launch of same-day delivery and “Try Before You Buy”, while international sales rose 35%.

The group has reported that its overall total sales have risen by 30% to £790 million in the final four months of 2017 compared with that recorded for the same period in 2016.

In what will no doubt have gone unnoticed, online rival Boohoo also saw its sales top £142 million for the four months ended 31 December 2017, in what seems to be a trend towards fashion shopping online.

Asos chief executive officer Nick Beighton said in a statement: “We achieved an exceptional performance in the UK, whilst momentum in international sales continued.

“We acquired 2.6 million active customers year-on-year and saw encouraging movements across all key customer KPIs.”
