Castle Cary based, The Cottage Brewing Company Ltd, have entered administration after advice from their legal team.
The joint-administrators, Craig Povey and Richard Toone put forward a proposal to enter into a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) last month.
Povey said: “The company was struggling with liabilities to a number of creditors and prior to our appointment had made all 16-staff redundant and has ceased trading.
“A proposed CVA will be discussed at a meeting later this month. We’ve also received interest from a number of parties and we are confident there is a future for the brewery. We’ll be reporting back to creditors in due course.”
Founded in 1993 in a Somerset cottage, the brewery quickly established itself as a producer of high quality ales.
In 2011, they moved to a new brewery and became known for their Goldrush, Pacific and Hunny Bunny ales.
They were awarded CAMRA’s Supreme Champion Beer of Britain award for their top-quality English malt and having a reputation for being generous with hops.
