Barclays announces new Head of Business Banking for Bristol and West of England

Barclays has announced the appointment of Steven Beavan to the new role of Head of Business Banking for Bristol and the West of England, strengthening its South West business banking proposition.

Steven will lead a team of relationship managers across the north of the region responsible for supporting Barclays business customers operating with a turnover between £400,000 to £6m, as part of Barclays continued commitment to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s) across the South West.

Steven brings a wealth of experience to the role having previously worked for two major European banks in a variety of business and commercial banking positions over the past 19 years, including Barclays, and his leadership and corporate banking experience will bring added value to Barclays SME customers and their businesses.

Commenting on his new role, Steven said: “Barclays has a strong track record of supporting SMEs in the South West and is uniquely placed with its relationship model to help local businesses during this period of uncertainty.  I’m passionate about helping business owners plan for the future and invest for growth, alongside helping them to expand into new markets and reach their full potential. This is an exciting yet uncertain time for me to be taking up my new role and I look forward to working with my team and meeting customers to understand how Barclays can help them navigate and capitalise on this period of change.”

Ian Workman co-head for Barclays Business Banking, UK, said: “Steven’s new appointment will bring an added dimension to our South West Business Banking team and greatly enhance our customer proposition in a key area of the region.  This comes on the back of our other initiatives to help SMEs to succeed and flourish including our dedicated £14bn SME lending fund, our Brexit clinics and seminars, and our established network of on-the-ground relationship management experts and industry specialists based across the South West. I look forward to welcoming and working with Steven in his new role.”

Steven holds a degree in Management with Banking and Finance from the University of Wales, Bangor.

Outside of work Steven is married with two children and has lived in Bristol for 12 years.  Steven is a qualified FA coach and coaches a boys and a girls football team at the weekend and is also a School Governor with a local Academy Trust.
