A beautiful new business

Emma Rogers

A budding young entrepreneur is next month hosting a launch event for her new beauty salon in Wedmore.

Emma Rogers is officially launching Beauty by Emma on Friday, November 9 and Wells MP Tessa Munt will cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Draycott resident Emma comments: “I am hosting an invitation-only party at the salon for local businesses, clubs and other key guests.

“This will be followed by an open house event from 12noon until 5pm. I am hoping that lots of people will drop in throughout the afternoon to meet me and have a look around the salon.

“I’ll be giving away goody bags containing Dermalogica samples and a complimentary gift voucher for make-up lessons or a Dermalogica face-mapping skin analysis.”

Emma will also be offering people 20% off any products, treatments and gift vouchers paid for at the launch. Refreshments will be served during the event.

Beauty by Emma, which is on Church Street in Wedmore, offers a range of beauty treatments for people of all ages. The salon specialises in skincare treatments such as facials and occasion make-up for special events.

Other services on offer include eyelash and eyebrow tinting, eyelash extensions, GELeration nails, manicures and pedicures, massage, St Tropez spray tan and waxing.

Emma is currently the only person working at Beauty by Emma however as the business expands, it is expected the workforce will grow too.

She is a fully qualified beauty therapist with Beauty Therapy NVQ Level Two and Three.

The 20-year-old won the title of Weston College Apprentice of the Year in 2011 and is also competing in the prestigious WorldSkills UK competition. She won the regional heats in April and is going to the national WorldSkills UK Beauty Therapy final at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham in November 2012.

The young mum, who has a two-year-old son, comments: “I am really looking forward to the WorldSkills UK final. I was thrilled to win the regional heats in April and I’ve been working really hard in preparation for the final.

“During the competition I will have to perform a range of beauty treatments, including a full body massage and a microdermabrasion facial.

“The event takes place over a three-day period and I will be competing for a place in the UK WorldSkills squad.”

WorldSkills UK rewards talent and drives up levels of expertise in apprenticeships, skills and further education. It aims to find the entrants with the best vocational skills from people in employment, training and education.
“Beauty by Emma is located in the heart of the Somerset levels, within the picturesque village of Wedmore near Axbridge, Bristol.
