Amelia Knight Cosmetics, a provider of private label and branded cosmetics for global fashion retailers and brands, has today announced a strengthening of its R&D and manufacturing capabilities in the UK with the acquisition of Pascalle Cosmetics.
The deal sees all 70 members of staff at Pascalle’s Stoke-on-Trent production facility join Amelia Knight’s 450 employees worldwide.
The 3,000m2 UK factory provides Amelia Knight with its first European manufacturing base and the business plans to invest in a new R&D lab at the site that will triple the size of the business’s UK R&D team. Once the new lab is complete the UK and Chinese R&D teams will have a combined total of over 20 chemists.
David Salmon, Founder and Chairman of Amelia Knight Ltd, said: “We continue to experience high growth and customer success, our products are winning highly acclaimed industry awards and we continue to expand. Pascalle’s factory allows us to add instant capacity to our production capabilities. The UK and the North West of England has a rich history in fashion and world class manufacturing. We will continue to grow our capability and nurture great British talent.”
Amelia Knight Cosmetics was founded in 1999 as a family-run business. Identified for its impressive rate of annual growth, it was ranked in the Sunday Times HSBC International Track Top 200 list, and as one of the 50 fastest-growing businesses in Manchester by Ward Hadaway. In addition, Amelia Knight products have been recently recognised at the 2018 British Vogue Beauty Awards and Pure Beauty Awards 2018.
Amelia Knight’s wholly-owned 16,000m2 manufacturing facility is currently located in Hangzhou, China, where a workforce of 400 includes chemists, new product developers and experts in sourcing. The business supplies major fashion and beauty retailers in more than 24 countries including the United States, South America, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
Mark Salmon, director of UK manufacturing at Amelia Knight, added: “By ramping up our production capabilities, we can bring our expertise in great design and high technical standards to our combined customer base, ensuring we are faster than ever with the latest fashion trends at competitive prices. In diversifying our production base, we also sidestep the threat of future tariffs between the US and China, as well as unlocking the full potential of the Stoke facilities. This deal will allow us to create more manufacturing jobs in the UK.”
