BGF, the UK and Ireland’s most active investor in growing businesses, has recruited Hannah Waters as an investor in Cardiff.
Hannah joins from Grant Thornton, where she spent five years in the Corporate Finance and Restructuring and Reorganisation teams in Wales. A chartered accountant, Hannah brings transactional experience from across the region, particularly in the healthcare and business support services sectors.
She joins Edwin Davies who has led BGF’s activities in South Wales since the opening of the Cardiff office in April 2018.
Hannah’s role at BGF will see her working across all areas of the investment process, meeting entrepreneurs and management teams, seeking new investment opportunities and working with BGF’s extensive portfolio.
Commenting on her appointment, Hannah said: “BGF’s fantastic track record and dynamic approach to investing made the prospect of working with them hugely attractive. With a huge opportunity in Wales, it’s a fantastic time to be joining the Cardiff team and working with more of the region’s ambitious entrepreneurs to deliver significant growth.”
BGF’s investments in Wales include: £10m to BVG Group, the multichannel retailer for clothing, footwear and household products, £3m to DevOpsGroup, the empowering IT consultancy and £2m to Wales Environmental, the liquid waste removal and drainage services company.
Ned Dorbin, head of BGF’s investment team in the South West and South Wales, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Hannah to BGF as we continue to build our team in Cardiff. Hannah’s regional expertise and transaction experience will enhance our capability to meet more entrepreneurs and management teams in Wales and provide long-term financial backing to help them realise their potential.”
Edwin Davies, investor South Wales, added: “The level of investment activity in South Wales has significantly increased and Hannah will help us provide funding to more businesses in the region.”
