Bishop Fleming helps connect Exeter with the world

Bishop Fleming’s third year of sponsorship for TEDxExeter saw another amazing day take place in the heart of Exeter on 20 April at the Northcott Theatre. This year’s theme was ‘Connect’ – a day of inspiring talks on what unites rather than divides us.

This year Bishop Fleming offered an exciting opportunity to the entire audience who attended the 2018 event to help one of the nine charitable causes appearing at TEDxExeter to receive a £1,000 charitable donation from the firm.

The Top 30 advisory firm offered the audience the opportunity to vote for one of the causes who had a presence at the event to win the £1,000 charitable donation.

The winner, with over a quarter of the overall vote, was announced on Monday 23rd April as ‘Kids against Plastic’, a campaign initiative started by sisters Amy and Ella Meek who are just 14 and 12 years old (www.clearplasticuk.net).

Fleur Lewis, Partner at Bishop Fleming’s Exeter office said: “We hope this charitable donation will help these inspiring young girls to further their campaign. All of the causes who were entered into our audience vote were worthy of this donation in their own right, but the girls clearly made a huge impression on everyone at the event with their passion and determination to make a change.”

According to Lewis, the ethos of the TEDxExeter message fits well with the innovative thinking that the accounting firm offers its clients. Whilst having several members of staff attend the event, Bishop Fleming also live streamed the occasion at their Exeter office for people to watch and engage with.
