Canadian aerospace giant, Bombardier, which has offices across the UK, has announced that it will cut more than 5000 jobs across the company.

Bombardier has been struggling in recent years, and has said that the cuts will take place over the next 18 months, with the majority of the cuts happening in North America.

The company employs over 5600 people across the UK, with the majority of them in Belfast or Derby.

Following the announcement, the East Midlands office announced that it had yet to have any indications if the cuts would drastically impact their operation.

A statement from Bombardier UK read: “We will take the necessary time to evaluate what this means for our Aerostructures and Engineering Services business. We will communicate with our employees in more detail over the coming weeks.”
