Silverstone Building Consultancy have been appointed as project monitor on a £16m housing scheme in Sedgefield, County Durham.
Hardwick Grange, which is located off Salters Lane, will provide 100 new homes on the site of the former Sedgefield Community Hospital.
Acting on behalf of the site owners, Stella Property Investments, Silverstone will undertake a detailed initial due diligence review of the development as well as ongoing monthly inspections throughout the contract period to ensure it is completed to programme.
Richard Farrey, director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, said: “We are delighted to be involved with this exciting new scheme. The buoyant residential sector has provided a number of opportunities for Silverstone to provide project management and monitoring expertise.
“Our input assists developers and investors by ensuring the works are being completed in accordance with the build programme to the agreed specification and quality throughout the contract period.”
Stella Property Investments has entered into a joint venture agreement with North East housebuilder, Tolent Homes, which is building the new homes. Formal planning permission was approved by Durham County Council in May 2018 and the works have now started on site.
The regeneration of the site will see the provision of 90 executive homes for sale and 10 affordable homes. Tolent is opening a dedicated sales suite for prospective purchasers this month.
Chris Price, construction manager at Tolent Living, commented: “We see Hardwick Grange as an exciting opportunity to redevelop the former Sedgefield Community Hospital site.
“The Tolent Homes brand has been created to develop homes which meet the needs of today’s lifestyles, blending modern with classic designs.
“The new Tolent Homes will bring the best of our construction experience delivering well designed homes to a high quality and specification.”
