An event organised by a North Somerset company, Moon Consulting, will bring business leaders together to discuss advances in technology.

On Friday March 8, over 100 business leaders from companies across the South West will be meeting at the University of the West of England, to discuss how the latest advances in smart technology can shape the future for local businesses.

Named the The Board 2020 Conference, it will be hosted by Dr Rick Robinson, Executive Architect of IBM’s ‘Smarter Cities’ solutions.

Dr Robinson will be leading a discussion about “Building a Smarter Planet” by using high tech solutions to enable small and mid sized businesses to access new markets, work more efficiently and increase their profitability.

Technology Strategy Board Chief Executive Iain Gray will also be speaking at the conference.

He will be talking about innovation and the great opportunities for entrepreneurial companies to generate business and economic growth by creating innovative products and services based on new technology.

Organiser Vanessa Moon, director of Moon Consulting in Pill, comments: “Bristol and the surrounding area has shown itself to be at the heart of creativity and innovation.

“The link between smart technology and the creative sector can help foster new business ideas, bring about new product innovation and ultimately benefit the economy for the future.
