Busting the five common misconceptions about entering the Business Leader Awards

Business Leader Awards

With the annual Business Leader Awards (BLA) soon approaching, we have taken a look at five common misconceptions about the awards process.

Going into our fifth year, the 2017 BLA promises to be the grandest and highest attended one yet and through the awards process we have gained a fascinating insight into how and why business do/don’t enter.

Here’s our top five misconceptions that we hear from awards hopefuls…

This can be an understandable and shared concern from the companies entering the awards ceremony – confidentiality affects us all.

Size of the company

The reality of business is that some companies are a lot larger and have a lot more resources than others. However, whether you are an internationally recognised power house or a start-up company looking to shake things up – our awards ceremony has 15 categories which provide opportunities for a wide range of different companies to be recognised for the great work they are doing.

Anyone can be a winner – you are not just ‘judged on the numbers’

Many might feel that they have no chance of winning. Other awards ceremonies may give the accolade to whoever has made the most profit, for example, however our judges are looking for more than just numbers. What sets you apart? What has your company done to revolutionise your industry? What makes your team better than the rest in the South West?

Are the same old companies winning year-after-year?

No. Every year, new companies and new ideas are awarded and celebrated. Businesses who apply each year are not necessarily guaranteed success.
