Camptoo buys sharing economy platform Out2Camp

Camptoo – the sharing economy platform that connects the owners and renters of campervans, motorhomes and touring campervans – has acquired Nordic sharing platform Out2Camp.

The acquisition is a key milestone for Camptoo, reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s fastest-growing travel companies and as one of Europe’s leading sharing economy platforms for campervan hire. The move strengthens Camptoo’s fleet in the Nordics, with Out2Camp’s portfolio of vans across Sweden, Denmark and Norway able to be booked via from the end of September.

Out2Camp was co-founded by Frederik Rofors and Bo Christensen in 2015 in Denmark, followed by launches into Norway and Sweden in 2018 and 2020, becoming the first sharing economy platform for campervans in the Nordics. Since its launch, the company has enabled more than 10,000 travellers to experience the joy of #VanLife. Frederik and Bo bring in-depth knowledge of the Nordic market, as well as a strong and loyal customer base.

Camptoo, launched in the Netherlands in 2014, connects the owners and renters of campervans, motorhomes and touring campervans. Ranked the fastest growing travel company in 2020 (FT1000), Camptoo users have booked over 500,000 days in vehicles rented through the site since the platform was launched. There are currently over 1,700 vehicles listed across the UK, over 4,000 across Europe, and a further 400 across Australia, with more being added every week.

Martijn Peeters, CEO and Founder of Camptoo says: “The acquisition of Out2Camp is a huge milestone for Camptoo as we look to grow our international fleet. With Out2Camp’s current fleet of 400 motorhomes and campervans across Sweden and Denmark, our goal is to become the leading campervan rental platform in the Nordic market, with a fleet of over 1,000 in both countries by the end of 2022. We’re looking forward to opening up the freedom, flexibility and fun of #VanLife to even more people.”
