Community and business app launched by North Somerset couple

A new community and business app has been launched by a North Somerset couple.

Kevin Carter and Emma Knights have launched the ‘The Big Local App’ that will allow people to access local news, business and community information plus money saving vouchers through their mobile phones.

It is free to download and according to Kevin will also provide local businesess with a cost-effective way of communicating customers.

Kevin comments: “Around 83% of iPhone owners have downloaded at least six apps and the use of apps is growing five times faster than the internet, with over 200 downloads made every second in the UK.

“Most Apps are national and very expensive but this is a much more cost-effective service exclusively geared towards local businesses and residents, so it provides our community with information and offers relevant to them.”

Anyone who owns an iPhone or Android phone can download The Big Local App from the App Store or Google Play.

The official launch of The Big Local App will take place on Saturday May 4 at Princess Royal Square.

The Mayor of Weston, Cllr David Hitchens will be attending, as will ‘Bla’, the app’s mascot.
