Contractor appointed for West-Midlands town centre scheme

Cordwell Property Group has announced the appointment of Stepnell to deliver its key mixed use scheme for the regeneration of a major town centre site in Walsall.
Wisemore Central will bring a Travelodge Hotel, McDonalds, and a further 15,000 sq ft of leisure and retail premises to the town.
The £7.8 million development will see the delivery of a 60-bed hotel, two-storey McDonalds restaurant, Explore Learning, GDK and Costa, with a further unit to let, with the scheme generating between 100 and 120 full and part time posts.
John Rawlinson, regional director for West Midlands-based office, said: “We are delighted to be working with Cordwell to deliver this major mixed-use development. This important scheme will make a significant contribution to further regeneration in Walsall, and also enables the company to provide community benefits including local job, training and apprenticeship opportunities and work for local suppliers.
“Appointing a local team helps ensure the deliverability of the scheme. We are all excited to be working on a project which will create valuable facilities for both residents and visitors, bringing more people into the town centre and contributing to the area’s prosperity by giving rise to a wide range of employment and training opportunities locally.”
Work is anticipated to start on site in April, with the scheme due to be completed at the end of the year.
