A contractor has been appointed to deliver a major new industrial warehouse project at Royal Portbury Dock.

The Bristol Port Company has named Sweet Construct as the main contractor for the 7,000sqm development.

The warehouse scheme is part of ongoing expansion plans at the port and will see the Bristol-based firm work alongside project manager, Mode Consult.

Andrew Ord, Operations Director at The Bristol Port Company, said: “We selected Sweet Construct for this project as their expertise was clear – they fully understood our requirements and were able to react quickly, making full use of their established local supply chain to begin the works immediately, helping us to remain on track with our investment and expansion plans at the port.”

Sweet Construct is a family-run business that has been operating for more than 40 years and offers services including self-delivered civil engineering, construction and fit-out across a variety of industry sectors.

It has seen significant and stable growth during the past 18 months, with the latest appointment adding to a portfolio of several projects in the Bristol and South West/South Wales region.

Head of Construction for Sweet Construct, David Rhys-Jones, said: “Building lasting relationships with local businesses is key for us and we are delighted to be working on this project for The Bristol Port Company, which we hope will be the start of a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”
