Crown Commercial Service appoints WBD to key legal panel

Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD), which has a large office in Bristol, has been appointed to the Crown Commercial Service new £320m wider public sector legal services panel.

WBD has been appointed for two of the five lots under this framework which includes the full-service panel for England and Wales and the transport (rail) UK wide panel.

The UK Government’s Crown Commercial Service (CCS) is the biggest public procurement organisation in the UK and plays an important role helping the UK public sector save money when buying common goods and services.

The CCS full service panel covers a broad range of legal services including commercial, corporate, property and construction, IT, data protection, litigation and public procurement and can be used by the wider public sector, including health, education, local and regional government, emergency services and third sector and social housing organisations.

This follows WBD’s appointment to Tier 1 of the current CCS panel for general advisory work for all central government bodies which commenced in 2017. The legal services panel announced at that time – for up to four years – reduced the number of law firms from 47 to just 12.

Nick Barwood, Client Partner for CCS at Womble Bond Dickinson said: “We are delighted with these further appointments by CCS which strengthen our ongoing relationship. As always, we are grateful for the huge amount of effort and hard work across the firm that has gone in to securing these appointments which are testament to our significant expertise in both the public sector and the transport sector.”

“We look forward to continuing our work with established CCS clients as well as the opportunity to develop new relationships.”
