Despite dire on-field performances Manchester United hit record revenues

Manchester United have reported record revenues of £627m from the year to July, despite the club’s ongoing on-field decline.

Last season, the club suffered a turbulent season which saw the club finish sixth and Jose Mourinho being replaced by United legend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The New York-listed football club is currently in 11th, and face Arsenal later tonight – with both clubs already desperate to close the large gap to the leader’s, Liverpool.

Broadcast revenue soared by 18% thanks to a new Champions League and Premier League deals, however, the team expects revenue and profit to fall in 2019-20 after it failed to make the Champions League this season.

Despite being the pantomime villain for the club’s fans, Vice Chairman Ed Woodward was buoyant about the future of the team.

He said: “We remain focused on our plan of rebuilding the team and continuing to strengthen our youth system, in line with the philosophy of the club and the manager. Everyone at Manchester United is committed to delivering on our primary objective of winning trophies.”
