Dorset-based visual special effects company is set to more than double manufacturing capacity after buying an 8,000 sq. ft. site, with the support of a £280,000 loan from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

Twins Worldwide Limited, launched in 2010 by twin brothers Gary and Paul Hardy-Brown, designs, manufactures and installs visual special effects and illusions for pantomimes, Christmas shows and other stage performances.

The business experiences a surge in orders in the first quarter of the year as its clients start to plan and prepare shows for the following festive season. 60 per cent of its total orders are for pantomimes that are set to take place in November and December.

To help it fulfil these contracts, the business has purchased a property opposite its Station Road storage site with funding from Lloyds Bank.

The new facility is more than double the size of its original manufacturing site.

The new premises will enable the business to take on more large-scale projects, which will help it to reach its target of increasing annual turnover by 70% in the next 2 years.

The previous 3500 sq. ft. manufacturing space will be used to store props.

The acquisition will create six new jobs, including warehouse manager roles and model makers, creating an 11-strong full-time workforce.

Gary Hardy-Brown, co-founder of Twins Worldwide, comments: “The new manufacturing site is going to allow us to work on even bigger projects in the months ahead.

“The next step in the road is to start working with overseas shows in the likes of the US. The loan provided by Lloyds Bank means we can finally focus our efforts on making this dream a reality.”
