Dorset stained glass specialists expands into new premises thanks to Barclays

A Dorset second generation family-run company is expanding into new commercial premises to meet its growing order book despite the pandemic, backed by financial support from Barclays.
Steve Sherriff Stained Glass Specialists based in Wimborne has over 25 years’ experience manufacturing, installing, repairs and maintaining stained glass, leaded windows and their frames (wood, metal or stone) using traditional techniques and skills. During lockdown and as access to places of worship became more accessible, the firm experienced a significant increase in demand for its products and services. Their larger new premises at Unit 17 Axis 31 near Wimborne, will provide additional space to work more efficiently in addition to much needed storage space.
Stephen Sherriff, the founder and more recently consultant to Stained Glass Specialists, said: “Barclays has been supportive of our plans throughout despite COVID 19 and have really understood our business and what we wanted to achieve and is always available if we need them. Since lockdown we have been busier than ever and these new premises will help us expand and secure a bright future.”
The business currently employs four people. The exciting expansion allows for Ellie Sherriff to join the firm as a partner to focus on the administrative aspects of the business and the new premises aim to secure their roles for the future.
Mark Ware, Barclays Business Manager, Dorset, added: “I’m delighted to continue to support this family business with their expansion plans – Sherriff Stained Glass is an important part of the local business community and we look forward to working with Nathan Sherriff, Managing Director and the team, to ensure their continued future growth and success. This has to be not only good for the firm but for the local economy.”
The Barclays funding package was put together by Sharon Harrison at Barclays National Broker Team.
