An elite cyclist has been appointed as the new membership sales manager at a North Somerset-based health club and spa.
Matt Witts has now joined the management team at theclub & spa at Cadbury House in Congresbury where he will help maintain the club’s position as the best independent health club in the country.
Originally from Bristol, Matt has worked in sales and marketing roles for a number of high profile gyms including Anytime Fitness at Cribbs Causeway. He also spent a year in Dubai working as a fitness instructor for Cyclebar, a premium, indoor cycle club.
Ranked the number one cyclist in the South of England in 2016, Matt has competed at an elite level throughout the UK. Following knee surgery, he is now making his comeback into the ultra-competitive world of pro cycling and intends to maximise his new position to get back to peak fitness.
Attracted by the autonomy and independence of the club, Matt was also impressed by the high-end equipment which the 4,000 plus members use to maintain their health and wellbeing.
Currently finishing his Personal Training Level 3 qualification with Origym, he hopes his experience and expert cycling knowledge will maintain the club’s position as being the best in the business.
Matt said: “The standard of equipment and facilities available here at Cadbury House are of the highest quality and is something I wanted to work with. I know how good the equipment is as I have personally used a lot of what’s available here for my own training.
“theclub is highly respected across the health club sector and I’ll be looking to maintain that reputation while looking to add some new elements from my cycling experience.”
Jason Eaton, group director at theclub added: “To have someone of Matt’s calibre join the team here is great news for our members. Having competed at the highest level he knows what it takes to get the best out of a training schedule.
“We’ll be using that expertise and knowledge to enhance our members’ experience and can’t wait to see the results. Not sure I’ll be joining him in the spin classes though!”
