Event to showcase Bristol’s track record in green innovation

Business professionals across the South West are being urged to snap up the final tickets to Innovation in the 2015 European Green Capital.

The event is a one-day seminar hosted in partnership by Go Green and The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

The event, which will showcase Bristol’s impressive track record in successful green innovations, is taking place at At-Bristol on Monday 5 October as part of the city’s year as European Green Capital.

It will enable delegates to take their organisation’s environmental performance to the next level in line with recent changes to international standards (ISO 14001) that aim to align environmental management systems with organisational strategy.

The seminar will include a session from Martin Baxter, IEMA’s chief policy advisor and the UK’s appointed expert on the changes, who will discuss how leading organisations are planning to approach them.

Other speakers include keynote speaker Julian Okoye, head of business development at GENeco; Martin Bigg, chair of IEMA’s Strategic Advisory Council and Professor of Environmental Technologies Innovation at the University of the West of England.

Amy Robinson, Go Green project director, comments: “Innovation in the 2015 European Green Capital will show business leaders how Bristol is leading the way in sustainable practice and discuss some of the ways they can become more ‘green.’

“We have a great range of high profile talks and workshops that people can get involved in so we’d encourage anyone with an interest in sustainability or ISO 14001 changes to come along.”

In the seven months since its launch, Go Green has engaged more than 1,000 West of England businesses, giving them the tools they need to improve and demonstrate their green credentials.

The initiative enables businesses to explore more sustainable ways of working and share their experiences with the wider business community.

The seminar will take place between 10am and 4pm on Monday 5 October at At-Bristol, Harbourside, Anchor Road, Bristol, BS1 5DB.
