boarded up high street shopThe eerie pictures of empty streets, highways and city centres will undoubtedly be how 2020 will be remembered. While the earth healed, the business landscape shifted. Household brands were wiped out and others rose from the ashes.

But has COVID-19 signalled the end of the high street? We’ve partnered with Descartes to look at the future of the high street and online retail.

Years of change and innovation was crammed into three months. Some companies thrived, while others floundered. The proliferation of online retail was thrust into the spotlight, with consumers moving online to buy products and services and businesses in this space seeing record sales.

But what has this meant for the customer experience and what does it mean for bricks and mortar retail?

This debate will answer a range of questions including:

  • Has COVID-19 been the catalyst of change in the retail sector?
  • Will people go back to the high-street post-pandemic?
  • With more online shopping – what has this meant for deliveries and innovation in the space?
  • What does a good online retail experience look like – from clicks to drop off?
  • How is technology supporting online retailers?
  • How do online retailers create a strong brand proposition from website to delivery?
  • Is the online retail proposition meeting customer expectations?

Who will be on the panel?

• Pol Sweeney: VP Sales & Country Manager UK, Descartes
• Neil Bell: Head of Retail, Easy Bathrooms
• Martin Bysh: CEO & Co-founder, Huboo
• Chris McShane: Director – Strategy, Transformation and Business Development, Halfords PLC
• David Young: CEO, Bradfords Building Supplies

The rest of the panel will be announced shortly.
