Google users experienced a widespread service disruption for around 36mins on Monday that affected the company’s email, YouTube and Google documents services. Gmail service has already been restored for some users.
Google Down Detector has indicated most problems occurring in log-in attempts and web searches. Problem seems to be present among all the continents with Europe being the ‘hot spot’.
“In theory, when switching your VPN to different location or – even better – continent, this would solve the problem as you would move from the outages in your location,” comments NordVPN Teams Chief Technology Officer Juta Gurinaviciute.
Occasional outages are common for many web-based services, including some that last many hours. In June 2019, more than a dozen Google services — including YouTube, Gmail and others — were disrupted for several hours by what the Silicon Valley company said were ‘high levels of network congestion’.
