FETCH announces appointment of entrepreneur and investor Hamish Morjaria as Chairman

On-premises food and drink order-and-pay application FETCH has announced the appointment of entrepreneur and investor Hamish Morjaria as Chairman.

Hamish, who for the last twenty years has held senior leadership roles in global technology,  distribution, wholesale and retail companies, brings his wealth of knowledge to further catapult FETCH towards its Series A round. Perfectly placed to chair FETCH, Hamish was an early adopter having already invested in the groundbreaking app, plus his expertise is in advising start-up companies in fast growth situations.

Hamish says: “What I really like about FETCH is it plays in a sector that is going through a significant period of disruption. The traditional model for checkout is changing, and that’s across retail, hospitality, and food and beverage. I think it’s relatively clear in a period of time that the traditional model – queuing up at a till point or hailing a waiter to pay a bill –  is going to change. Technology will be the instigator of that change, which we’ve already seen with the likes of Amazon Go and the retail model in Apple shops. People and large companies are trying to disrupt that model but only provide a piece of the solution, whereas FETCH has the whole package.”

Currently FETCH installations have been successful, across restaurants, pubs and bars but also most recently in sports stadiums, as well as in progressive talks with global hotel groups on adopting the app. Confidence in the app has been concreted by the fact the business went into overfunding within hours of its second Seedrs campaign going live, and is over 200% funded.

Hamish continues: “FETCH’s management team have a tremendous depth of experience in providing enterprise-class solutions, and their vision is very complete from the transactional side to tipping, splitting a bill; all of the things that people in the food and beverage, hospitality and retail industry are looking for and can be implemented very quickly.”

As this new way of ordering, paying, and more becomes the norm, Hamish believes the industry size is huge, and his recent appointment will fast-track FETCH there.
