From art school to luxury homes: new £3m development

Plans have been announced to convert a former art school into 12 luxury apartments in Sutton Coldfield.
The £3m development is a joint venture between Key Land Developments and Urban Village; the two firms are already working together on the £15m Knights House development in Sutton Coldfield. Birmingham City Council planners have given the green light for conversion of The Old Art School on Lichfield Road into one and two-bedroom homes.
Kevin Patrick Sharkey, director of Key Land Developments, said: “Our development of the Old Art School is an exciting project which will create 12 luxurious apartments in a fantastic location, walking distance from the train station and town centre.
“It is a wonderful building and we will be retaining as much of the original character as possible. It’s great to be able to bring life back to this historic building which has been vacant for some time.”
The Old Art School is a Grade II listed, Georgian-style building constructed in the early 20thcentury. It sits within the Anchorage Road Conservation Area. Work is expected to start on site in April with the first apartments available in January 2020.
