Moon Consulting reflects on the impact of the tech sector in the Southwest region following the VR World Congress held in April.

Simon Quinn, Moon Consulting’s Head of Search, reminds us that “Bristol and the West of England now lead the UK league table for productivity in the digital technologies sector, according to a recent report by Tech Nation.”

“Bristol also leads the UK in smart city digital innovation, according to an assessment commissioned by Huawei.

“It’s no surprise that Bristol and the West of England is becoming the UK hub for technology; we find ourselves surrounded by pioneering businesses and individuals that are helping make the regional scene thrive.

“The Bristol, Bath and Southwest region is also known across the globe for its cluster of businesses operating in the creative and digital, low carbon technologies and aerospace and advanced engineering sectors. According to McKinsey & Co, this region is home to the UK’s only globally significant tech cluster.”

“Businesses such as Huawei, Aardman Animations, Altran UK, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, the Bristol Robotics Lab, to name but a few, recognise that the environment in the Southwest is very attractive to talented engineers moving to the region,” adds Vanessa Moon, Director of Moon Consulting.
