Goldman Sachs, Business Leader and the Ascot Group team up for Inspire Elite launch

Inspire EventMore than 100 business leaders from Bristol and the surrounding area were in attendance for the launch of Inspire Elite – a new programme to support successful businesses with their growth plans.

Held at the UWE Enterprise Zone, The Scale Up Bristol launch event was supported by major business names – with Nat West, Goldman Sachs, Smith & Williamson, UWE and Foot Anstey all announced as partners.

Several business leaders spoke at the event, including Andrew Scott – founder of the Ascot Group – who shared his business secrets and spoke about the ingredients required to build a sustainable and profitable business.

The Inspire Elite Scale Up Leaders is a programme designed to connect leading businesses in the West of England with a team of world-class entrepreneurs and experts.

It also aims to deliver bespoke, on-going support from entrepreneurs who have experienced high growth themselves and provide expert advice from leading institutions.

The event started with Rob Perks, chief executive officer at Inspire, explaining how the programme works with business leaders to create or hone a three-to-five-year growth strategy.

He used the analogy of Inspire being a doctor where members can go to gain advice on any of the challenges of running a business.

Nancy Straates of Goldman Sachs, then spoke about its 10,000 small businesses UK scheme which is an investment to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing greater access to education and business support services; and its partnership with Inspire Elite.

John Morris, Scale-up Leader at Smith and Williamson and Matt Hatcher – Commercial Direct at Nat West, also spoke.

John highlighted how the UK compared with other countries in its support for scale-up businesses and said that this group of businesses where amongst the UK’s most productive – averaging £240,000 turnover per employee.

Andrew Scott then delivered his presentation on branding and business growth – explaining to the audience the steps you need to take in order to realise success.

On the event Andrew comments: “Inspire is a high-end programme that is supporting business leaders by providing a resource where successful entrepreneurs can connect with each other to share best-practice. The programme also provides a resource where business leaders can go to gain support and advice. It’s what the region needs and the Ascot Group (Purplex, Business Leader) is proud to have been asked to come on-board as a major partner.”

Mandy Paterson, director for Inspire, added: “It was fantastic to see over 100 business leaders at our Scale Up Bristol event.  There is a myriad of support programmes and events available to businesses in the city however the difficulty for many business owners – who are busy running their companies – is to work out which are useful to them at any given time.

“It was apparent there is a real need for an impartial service to direct them quickly and easily to the most appropriate support to meet their needs.

“We provide a dedicated relationship manager to work with them on their strategy and link them up to relevant support and opportunities to fulfil that need.”
