North Somerset firm HSQE publishes sustainability document

HSQESustainability is a buzz word for businesses and event organisers at the moment, with many keen to offer the very latest standards.

One North Somerset organisation at the forefront of ensuring businesses and event organisers can offer the very latest in sustainable accreditations is The HSQE Department Ltd.

Founded and managed by Winscombe based Richard Shearwood-Porter, HSQE has recently published a factsheet about the new international standard for business events and hospitality sustainability – ISO 20121:2012.

The standard was implemented during the 2012 Olympics and most recently by Manchester United football club.

Richard comments: “This is the new standard that has been written to help organisations of all sizes in the events and hospitality industry integrate sustainability into every-day management practice.

“It’s no coincidence this standard has been launched at the same time as the 2012 Olympics; with the organising committee using it to make the games the most sustainable so far.

“The ISO standard has been designed to replace the existing British Standard for events sustainability, BS 8901 and current users of BS 8901 are expected to make the transition to ISO 20121 over a period of time.”

According to Richard HSQE is well-equipped to implement this standard, which is ensuring organisations and events are more socially responsible, legally astute and more financially successful.
