illycaffè appoints new Chief Executive Officer

illycaffè, the first Italian coffee company to obtain the B Corp certification, has appointed Cristina Scocchia as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Scocchia will succeed Massimiliano Paglion, the first external CEO to run the family-owned business.

Before joining illycaffè, Scocchia was previously the Chief Executive Officer of KIKO, a cosmetics company where she spent the last few years successfully leading a business plan on product innovation, digital transformation and geographical expansion in Asia and the Middle East.

Prior to this, Scocchia served as Chief Executive Officer of L’Oréal Italia where she assisted with the growth of the company in a challenging economic environment. She started her career at Procter&Gamble where she was responsible for supervising multiple brands in over 70 countries throughout the world.

Scocchia brings with her a strong background of business management having graduated full marks in Management of International Firms at Luigi Bocconi University before going on to complete a PhD in Business Administration at the University of Torino.

In addition to this, Scocchia is also a member of the Board of Directors of EssilorLuxottica and is a speaker and lecturer in many national and international conventions and conferences related to enterprise development, leadership, diversity, and sustainability. In June 2019 she was awarded the Legion d’Honneur.

Following the news of Scocchia’s appointment to CEO, Andrea Illy, chairman of illycaffè, commented: “We are delighted that Cristina will lead the next phase of our growth as Chief Executive Offer. She is passionate about sustainability and will lead with energy and character.”
