Instant Offices reveals most in-demand skills following news that 60% of people are planning to leave their job in 2022

A new study by Instant Offices has found that over 60% of people have plans to leave their jobs this year to venture onto something new. However, sometimes this is easier said than done. With a competitive job market, it is important that your CV reflects your best abilities and the most in-demand skills that employers are looking for.

The research revealed that tech roles are the most in-demand and feature some of the highest salaries. Project Management, Communication and Critical Thinking are all general skills that feature in the top 10 of most in-demand skills.

It also found the big bucks are made by people with advanced experience in emerging tech, where salaries can hit over 100k per year.

The most in-demand skills

Instant Offices trawled some of the country’s top job sites and government data to reveal the 10 most in-demand skills for 2022. The ones that appeared the most were tech-based skills, and this meant that roles involving these skills were paying noticeably higher than other roles. Specifically, the top three most in-demand skills were Data Management/Data Science, Cybersecurity and Machine Learning.

These were followed by Python Development and Artificial Intelligence.

However, the most desirable skills are not all tech-focussed.

Project Management, Communication and Critical Thinking are all general skills that feature in the top 10. With staff working from home and so many companies now adopting a hybrid work model, the need for advanced communication and project management skills has exploded, with 16% of companies saying they need people with communication skills, and almost one in five saying they are looking for critical thinkers.
