Oatly, a European oak milk and foodtech firm has announced a £160m investment round involving a group of US celebrities.
Last night, the firm confirmed that a group including investment giant Blackstone Group and celebrities Jay-Z, Oprah Winfrey and Natalie Portman have acquired a stake in the company as part of the deal.
Oatly revealed that the funding would be used to expand on its current plant-based range of products. The firm’s products are available at 50,000 locations across 20 countries around the globe. The £160m investment represents about 10% stake in the Oatly brand.
Group CEO Toni Petersson said: “We chose to partner with Blackstone Group because of their tremendous resources and unique reach. Our new partners’ commitment to supporting us and furthering our mission is a clear indication of where the world is heading, which is in a new, more sustainable direction.”
