Jobs lost after North West law firm ceases trading

NesbitA North West law firm, with offices in Bury, London and Birmingham, has gone out of business.

Nesbit Law Group, which employed 27 people, specialised in dealing with traffic accident claims and has announced it has closed its doors after facing financial challenges for a number of years.

The firm also acted on cavity wall claims, housing disrepair and holiday sickness.

However, a change in legislation in 2013 with the introduction of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act led to a reduction in the number of people who were eligible for legal aid.

The firm also suffered a flooding at its head office in Bury in early 2016, which resulted in the loss of several lucrative contracts.

Nesbit Law entered into a voluntary arrangement (CVA) with its creditors in May 2017, but despite the restructure the firm was unable to meet the terms of the CVA.
