Entrepreneur Elon Musk

Elon Musk was born June 28, 1971 and is a South African-Canadian-American business investor, engineer, and inventor.

Musk is the founder, chief executive officer, and lead designer of SpaceX as well as co-founder, CEO and product architect of Tesla Inc; co-chairman of OpenAI; founder and CEO of Neuralink, and founder of The Boring Company.

He is also a co-founder and former chairman of SolarCity, co-founder of Zip2, and founder of X.com, which merged with Confinity and took the name PayPal. In October 2002, PayPal was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion in stock, of which Musk received $165 million.

In December 2016, Musk was ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World’s Most Powerful People and as of January 2018, Musk has a net worth of $20.9 billion, making him the 53rd richest person in the world.

Musk’s latest venture has seen his company, Space X successfully launch his new rocket, the Falcon Heavy – the most powerful since the shuttle system – from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Elon Musk has sent his own car, a Tesla, into space

This was a test that SpaceX founder Elon Musk suggested beforehand could just become the greatest firework show ever seen if it went wrong.

The rocket, created by the researchers at Space X, is tremendously powerful and could eventually be used to take people to the moon and Mars. It also runs very cheaply, for a rocket plus the fact that it can be re-used, at relatively little expense means that this could be an exciting future for much more regular space launches.

The installation of Musk’s own car, a Tesla, in the rocket is a nice touch on the story and has got people talking. There’s no reason for the car to be going to space apart from as a talking point.

Forgetting that, the Falcon Heavy is designed to deliver a maximum payload to low-Earth orbit of 64 tonnes – the equivalent of putting five London double-decker buses in space.

With this debut, the Falcon Heavy becomes the most capable launch vehicle available.
