Stonewater has acquired a 2.6-acre development site in Birstall, Leeds. The site, which comes with consent for 32 houses, is located off Field Head Lane and comprises a former railway cutting which is now brownfield. Stonewater plans to use the site wholly for affordable housing.

Cushman & Wakefield facilitated the sale on behalf of Sir Robert Ogden Group, while Mark Brearley & Co acted for Stonewater.

Phil Roebuck, Partner and Head of Residential Development at Cushman & Wakefield in Leeds said: “We are very pleased to have agreed a sale which will enable reuse of this well-located brownfield site to deliver much needed affordable housing.”

Martin Fox, Regional Development Manager of Stonewater commented: “We are thrilled to complete on this excellent site and continue our ambitious plans delivering affordable housing in the district. Stonewater, a nationwide Housing Association with 1,700 properties in Yorkshire, have an ambitious house-building programme aiming to build 1,000 new homes per year across the country.”
