Following Monday’s announcement that Liam Gallagher’s fashion brand, Pretty Green, had fallen into administration – today, it has been revealed that British sports retail chain JD Sports has agreed to purchase the business.

The former Oasis member had to call in administrators last week, citing challenging high street retail conditions, House of Fraser’s fall into administration and competition within the sector. The start-up retail store owed half a million pounds when House of Fraser collapsed.

JD Sports agreed to save the business, however, 11 stores and 33 concessions at House of Fraser stores across the UK will close – putting almost 100 jobs at risk.

However, Pretty Green’s flagship Manchester store will remain open.

Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports said: “We are pleased to have completed the acquisition of the highly regarded Pretty Green brand. We look forward to working with the team on future positive developments.”

Simon Thomas, partner at administrators Moorfields commented: “Pretty Green is a popular brand and received a considerable amount of interest. We are confident that JD Sports is the right fit for the business and will help to grow its online and wholesale channels.”
