Pardoes will be hosting a ‘mock employment tribunal’.

The solicitors will demonstrate what happens in an actual tribunal in front of dozens of businesses in The Old Library at Taunton School on Wednesday 20th November.

The tribunal with be made up just like a real one, with a Judge, lay members, and the employer and employee acting in person.

There will also be the added benefit of the audience being able to question the parties and vote at the end as to who they thought should have won.

A scenario of an unfair dismissal claim based on the use of social media along with a potential whistleblowing claim will be explored.

The event will include an up-to-date outline on the law in this fast developing area as well as how businesses can put themselves in the best position to succeed if faced with such a claim.

Maeve Vickery, Head of Commercial and Employment at Pardoes, comments: “The event was birthed after a realisation that many businesses are incredibly under prepared when it comes to defending a claim at an Employment Tribunal.

“This could cost them valuable costs and time.

“Often they settle beforehand because they are fearful of the process or even worse, lose the case as they don’t understand how Employment Tribunals work.”

Schedule for event: 8am – Tea, coffee and pastries, 8.30am Tribunal, 9.30am breakfast, 10am vote, outcome and Q&As 10.30am close and networking.
