St. James’ Hotel Group appoints new GM for Hotel Indigo Bath

St James’s Hotel Group has appointed Simon Hall as general manager for the 166-bed boutique Hotel Indigo Bath. Joining the group with over 25 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Simon will oversee the day to day running of the new hotel set to launch in Spring 2018.

Hall said: “It is a wonderful time to join the Hotel Indigo Bath team. I am looking forward to working with the fun and unique Indigo brand to develop the hotel’s ethos in the coming months in preparation for the launch.  My priorities include developing my team so that we have a successful launch and deliver a best-in-class guest experience at Hotel Indigo Bath.”

Prior to joining the group, Simon worked as General Manager at the 332- bedroom Holiday Inn London-Regent’s Park. During his time there, Simon moved the hotel up 60 places on TripAdvisor, achieved Venue Verdict Gold status for meetings and raised over £25,000 for the hotel’s nominated charity.

JLL’s Bristol & Exeter offices announce raft of new promotions

Property consultancy JLL has announced nine new promotions in its Bristol and Exeter offices.

In Bristol, Adam Greenwood, in the residential valuation team, has been promoted to national director level, while Nicola Perry, in the property and asset management team, is now a local director.

Daniel Withecombe and Matthew Armstrong, from the student and healthcare team, Tully Madge, from retail management, and Lisa Fone, from building consultancy, have all been made associate directors.

Adam Reed, in building consultancy, has been promoted to senior surveyor and Lisa Potts, from property and asset management, has now become a surveyor.

In Exeter, Mark Walter, in the residential team, has been promoted to local director, whilst Adelle Moore and Kye Daniel passed their Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) Exams to become qualified chartered surveyors.

Promotion to partner at BDO in Bristol

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has announced the promotion of Andrea Hunt to partner in its Bristol-based advisory team.

Andrea, who has over 30 years of accounting, audit and assurance experience, has been promoted from director to partner, one of 15 new partners across BDO’s UK offices – the highest number of partner promotions the firm has awarded.

The firm’s Bristol office has appointed three new partners in the past three years and has doubled the amount of space it occupies at Bridgewater House in Finzels Reach. Andrea Bishop, lead partner in BDO’s Bristol office, said Andrea Hunt’s appointment meant that half of Bristol’s eight partners in Bristol are female.

She said: “Developing and rewarding talent from within is an essential part of our growth strategy.”

Grant Thornton appoints Head of Restructuring for the South

Grant Thornton has announced the appointment of Alistair Wardell as Head of Restructuring across the South, as business activity strengthens.

Bringing more than 20 years’ experience, most recently as Practice Leader in Grant Thornton’s Cardiff office, Alistair has successfully supported owner-managed, family run and private equity invested companies to grow their value and move on to the next level.
