Bristol Airport

Bristol Airport has appointed Nigel Scott to the newly created position of Business Development Director.

Previously Sales and Marketing Director with cleaning technology company, Kärcher, and a former European Marketing Director for Dyson, Nigel brings a wealth of international business experience to the new role which will be instrumental in raising Bristol Airport’s profile as the major gateway for the South West of the UK.

As Business Development Director, Nigel will develop new opportunities, strengthen marketing capabilities and partnerships, and enhance Bristol Airport’s brand in the South West and beyond.

Nigel Scott said: “As a resident of the South West, I understand the important role Bristol Airport plays in connecting the region with the world.  I look forward to using the insight and experience gained working with major global brands to further enhance the Airport’s profile and reputation with customers, business partners and other stakeholders.”

Bristol and West of England China Bureau

Banking and insurance professional Michael Dando has been appointed as Director of Business Projects while Saso Puksic, a financial analyst at Wotton-under-Edge based Renishaw plc takes up the role of Finance and Business Systems Director.

Bristol and West of England China Bureau Chief Executive Dianne Francombe said: “Appointing directors of this calibre and experience helps boost the Bureau’s profile and strengthen its business credentials both here and overseas.”

Debbie Fortune Estate Agents

Debbie Fortune Estate Agents have welcomed Mike Coles to their business as a marketing executive.

Mike, who lives with his wife Joy in Worle, Weston-super-Mare has previously been with Archant as their property manager for South West England, working on a number of newspapers and magazines having started as an apprentice in hot metal printing with WB Frampton & Sons, owners of the Weston & Somerset Mercury, over 44 years ago.

Director Jo Woolley explains, “Mike will be assisting Debbie and I with all aspects of our marketing operation and will be working across all three offices at Wrington, Chew Magna and Backwell.”

Bishop Fleming

Top 40 accountants, Bishop Fleming, have promoted its Director of Corporate Finance, Charles Davey, to Corporate Finance Partner.

Since his arrival at Bishop Fleming in 2015, Charles Davey has been part of a number of major deals for clients with a wide range of businesses and funders across the region.

Commenting on his new role, Charles said: “It has been a privilege to be part of such a strong corporate finance team within a fast-growing and well-respected firm. As a partner, I am really looking forward to enhancing Bishop Fleming’s corporate finance function and to supporting businesses across the region.”

Maria Cook, Urban Creation

Maria Cook has joined Bristol property developer Urban Creation to oversee the finances of its growing property portfolio as the new financial controller.

Having most recently been finance manager at serviced apartment provider SACO for over three years, she has also worked in finance for several hotel sector businesses.

Maria Cook, said: “This is a very exciting time to join the company which has exciting plans for the future and I’m looking forward to being able to play a key role in the business.”


Real estate adviser GVA has announced three senior promotions in its Bristol office. Richard Kidd and Richard Howell are both promoted to Senior Director, while Lee Halmshaw is promoted to Director.

Alternative lending specialists, ThinCats, have announced the appointment of Samantha Gray as General Counsel.

Samantha said: “ThinCats have a fantastic reputation for helping businesses across the UK realise their financial goals. They encourage growth, development and innovation in UK business and it’s exciting to get the opportunity to be a part of that.”

In her new role, Samantha will provide commercial and legal advice across the Group and will be involved in the development of operational and transactional processes. She will also oversee the securities, monitoring and recoveries teams.

Jennifer Holgate, Bond Dickinson

National law firm Bond Dickinson have appointed Jennifer Holgate as Managing Associate.

Jennifer qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 and joins from London law firm Pinsent Masons LLP. She will be based in Bond Dickinson’s Bristol office, working alongside the renewable energy, infrastructure and real estate teams.

Jennifer said: Bond Dickinson has very strong credentials in energy and planning with a fantastic client portfolio. With such talent in the team, there are great opportunities to work on landmark strategic projects in the UK – it is an exciting time to be a planning lawyer and in Bristol.”
