British supermarket chain Morrisons is planning on axing more than 3,000 managerial roles across the business as part of a restructuring plan.
The aim of the move is to create the possibility of more in-store roles across the UK – including butchers, bakers and fishmongers.
David Lepley, Morrisons group retail director, said: “Whilst there will be a short period of uncertainty for some managers affected by these proposals we will be supporting them through this process. There will also be more roles with greater flexibility that are very attractive to colleagues with families.”
Morrisons also revealed today that current managers will be able to move to the new roles, stating that there will be roles “for everybody who wants to continue to work at Morrisons”.
