My Working Day

Juliet Murrell - founder of House of VOGAAs the leader of a company, you are there to set an example, to lead and inspire a team individuals to achieve a series of business goals. But, how do these business leaders go about their daily routine?

Business Leader spoke to Juliet Murrell – founder of House of VOGA about her working day.

WHAT TIME DO YOU USUALLY WAKE UP?

My little ROXY Red decides that. If I had my way 9am. Anytime from 6am!

WHAT DO YOU TYPICALLY HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?

Hot lemon to kickstart the kidneys. Banana peanut butter chia seed avocado smoothie. With Ibiza superfood disco mix.

WHAT IS THE REST OF YOUR MORNING ROUTINE BEFORE YOU START WORK?

Take ROXY to nursery then put on Spotify 80s or 90s soul playlist for 30 minutes yoga than out to park with Rio my dog before I crack on.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO AT THE START OF YOUR WORKING DAY?

Spinal twist in bed!

HOW DO YOU PRIORITISE YOUR DAY’S WORK?

I like to be in the flow so if I can jump on my bike for a meeting or head to the park to get business calls outdone and dusted that’s my first priority.

I resist my computer but now it’s summer, I’m setting up in the garden.

DO YOU PLAN MEETINGS OR ARE THEY A WASTE OF TIME?

I always plan meetings – meeting people even when you don’t exactly know why always leads to something – sharing an idea leads to bigger things.

DO YOU HAVE A WORKING LUNCH OR IS IT GOOD TO TAKE A BREAK?

Take a Break for sure – clears my head and resets my creative forces

WHEN DOES YOUR WORKING DAY FINISH?

Picking up Roxy from nursery so 5.45pm.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR THE NEXT DAY’S WORK?

I’m not the most organised person but I’m working on it.

I have quite a visual memory so even if I have 5 scattered lists written on several different scraps of paper, including backs of envelopes and Roxy’s colouring pads, I can always remember where I wrote something and just having it written down for the next days tasks is reassuring. I wouldn’t promote this way of working but I have to work with what I have. Organisations ain’t it sadly but I seem to get away with it just about!

FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY?

Ipod  – need my music – planes, garden, everywhere.

HOW DO YOU SWITCH OFF?

Yoga – it always works. Music, candle, favourite new wolf and mermaid mat. Can’t wait for my future dream house spanish rooftop!

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE RECEIVED?

Stay in the flow for a happy life. I once heard that 20% of depression is context, 20% is hereditary and 60% depends on your ability to stay in the flow. Movement is everything.

Hence why Madonna’s dictate ‘Go With The Flow’ has been my life force and vision to help others feel healthy and happy. If you can’t beat it, go with it.
