As the leader of a company, you are there to set an example, to lead and inspire a team of individuals to achieve a series of business goals. But how do these business leaders go about their daily routine? Business Leader spoke to – Niall Phelan – Co-founder of TNC about his working day.
What time do you usually wake up?
What do you typically have for breakfast?
Homemade Grabnola, Berries and Vegan Yoghurt with Local Honey.
What is the rest of your morning routine?
Up at 6am, Train for 1 hour, Breakfast and plan my day/check messages overnight from international markets.
What is the first thing you do at the start of your working day?
Train in the gym ( I have one at home).
How do you prioritise your day’s work?
I plan my day the day before leaving good gaps for the unforseen things that generally come up in a start up.
Do you plan meetings or are they a waste of time?
Short meetings, 15-30 mins max. We still need them to get everyone on the same page and it’s a great way for remote teams to share what’s going on in their world.
Do you have a working lunch or is it good to take a break?
Mostly, I have a working lunch despite my best efforts to get a break in the day.
When does your working day finish?
Between 7-10pm depending on what is going on in North America.
How do you prepare for the next day’s work?
A quick check in on my diary before I finish the day and making sure I have all relevant materials read so I am ready to get the most out of my day.
What’s your favourite piece of technology?
My MacBook Pro. Absolutely invaluable.
How do you switch off?
Hiking through any mountain or park, Training and Boxing.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Never fire anyone for a making a decision, Mistakes are golden.
